Description of
What We Do...
STARFLEET Marine Corps
Uniform Outfitting Guidelines
The SFMC uses several distinct uniforms, inspired to varying degrees by Starfleet uniforms. The following information is intended to assist Steel Tigers members with putting their uniforms together.

The Steel Tigers' Branch of Service is Aerospace. Individual Marines are free to choose their preferred MOS in a different branch, but where uniforms have branch color/insignia elements, Command Red is recommended . An exception to this is the Picard uniform, where all SFMC Members are authorized and encouraged to wear gold.
A new revision to the Uniform manual includes many changes that I (as OIC) personally do not like. The manual is available at the SFMC facebook page and here.

Each uniform has a variety of accessories that may be worn with it. It it not required to display all insignia, awards, and other accessories, but at the bare minimum, the following must be included when any uniform includes them:
-
SFMC Insignia or Patch (available from the SFMC Quartermaster's Office)
-
Note that the QM sells "collar brass" and "beret pins". These are the same except for the collar brass come in pairs and the beret pins are singles. The collar brass used to point at an angle so there was a different one for each side, but with them being vertical now, they're the same on either side. If the beret pins come back in stock, you may want to just buy one of them instead.
-
-
Rank Insignia (QM)
-
Current SFMC officer ranks now mirror the equivalent-grade Fleet insignia, except using silver bars instead of gold pips. Enlisted ranks are more or less the same, except the rockers are replaced with opposite-facing chevrons and the E8/E9 chevrons have specific diamonds in the middle. Consult the OIC if you're not sure which insignia you need.
-
-
Combadge (any canon Starfleet style is acceptable, but in keeping with Solstice regulations, the style of combadge that matches your uniform style/era is best). An Aerospace insignia or other Branch device may be engraved in the Delta.
A black beret can be worn with most uniforms. The SFMC Flash is available from the Quartermaster, to which you can add a 3/4" brass 7 (for the 7th Brigade) or your rank insignia. You can also put a collar brass emblem on the flash or alone without the flash.

SFMC Uniforms come in three (3) general classes: A ("Dress"), B ("Duty" -- the ones which look the most traditionally "Starfleet"), and C ("Working"), with several options for each. It is not required to have them all, but keep in mind the "Highest Level" rule: when uniforms are authorized for an event, the OIC or event organizer will specify the highest level that is appropriate for that; uniforms one level lower are generally considered acceptable if the higher one is not available. Dress uniforms should not be worn to a "B" or "C" event, and "A" events should be attended in civilian formal attire in lieu of a class "C" uniform.
OIC General Order 1: Unless otherwise specified by event planning or the Ship CO, Steel Tigers members are authorized and encouraged to wear any Corps-approved uniform variant (or portion thereof) to Solstice and MSG functions.
OIC General Order 2: Unless otherwise specified by event planning or the Ship CO, Steel Tigers members are authorized to wear a kilt or kilt-like skirt as part of their uniform. Preferred tartans include: the wearer's own family tartan (if one exists), the STARFLEET Tartan, Scott, Barclay, Royal Stewart, applicable other organization's tartan, Armstrong, or Montgomery. For liability reasons, kilts should not be worn "traditionally", and undergarments should be worn at all times. Sporran is optional with a kilt, but highly encouraged. Fly plaid is optional.
