Second Officer

The Secondary Officer (SO) assists the XO

1. In his or her duties, chairing any meetings that the XO cannot attend, reporting to such affiliates as directed by the CO, and acting as chief of staff for the Command Staff.

2. The SO is required to pass the OTS, OCC, and GDPR exams according to STARFLEET regulations 

3. As such, the SO is further empowered to stand in for any Command Staff Officer as needed.  

4. He or she will be on hand to assist the Command Staff Officers with their respective positions if called upon.

5. He or she can give recommendations to the staff and crew as to how to better do their positions, and which academics to take.

6. The SO shall assist the DPO (Data Protection Officer)

7. The SO shall be responsible for the ship’s newsletter and may choose their own team to assist.

8. The SO shall also be responsible looking for any Awards that Starfleet has to offer not only to the crew but to the ship

9. SO shall also be responsible for any STARFLEET functions that the crew can partake in.

10. This means you will notify the TO and Ops of such event so that it gets posted

11. The SO shall document any disciplinary action, as needed.

12. He or she will the incident in a report which will describe the inappropriate behavior, as well as the actions taken by the ship or other authority.

13. One copy of the report will be placed in the ship’s log in a confidential section (as legal documentation, should the need arise), and another will be given to the individual in question.

14. If he or she is involved in the incident, the XO will assume this duty.

15. He or she is the Second Officer of the ship.
